He began his career as a photographer and worked for various magazines including Marie Claire. In 1959, he graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.

Albicocco directed and wrote several films in the 1960s and 1970s, including "The Wanderer" (1967), "The Body of My Enemy" (1976), and "The Gift" (1979). He was known for his visually stunning and experimental films, often using unconventional camera angles and editing techniques.

Albicocco's films were well received by critics and audiences alike, and he was nominated for several awards throughout his career. Some of his notable achievements include winning the Best Director award at the 1967 Cannes Film Festival for "The Wanderer", and receiving a César nomination for Best Director for "The Body of My Enemy".
